Hi it's been a while and I'm back! Since working from home since March, I've been weirdly extra obsessed with beauty treatments and refreshing my look (even though I hardly ever go to events or gram-worthy places anymore). Not sure why, but it definitely led me to craving summery balayage highlights for my hair, and I'm so glad I found the perfect place for it.
My hair experienced THE most amazing transformation under the magic hands of some of the talented stylists and colorists at Essensuals Toni & Guy, located on On Lan Street near LKF. First, Marcus (pictured below) assessed my hair and trimmed and cut it into a stylish shape and volume, with a super subtle curtain fringe that I've wanted for a while. The fringe, which sits slightly above my chin, looks great with hairstyles like a low bun and pony - which I wear often nowadays, especially with the summer heat.
The coloring process began with bleaching certain sections of my hair (not all!) and wrapping them with foil. This part took around 30 minutes. After the foil was taken out, my hair was washed, then a toner was brushed on to create the warm highlights. This time, I chose a warm, honey-coloured balayage rather than the ashy grey-blonde colour that people go for nowadays. The reason I opted for the former was because the ashy blonde made my actual skin also look ashy too from past experience, so yeah it wasn't for me.
The bleaching & foiling process...
The below is how my hair looked after getting bleached in sections. Obviously this isn't the final result, as the toner gets brushed on after.
Ears get wrapped in Gladwrap, and the toner is applied to 'calm' the freshly bleached color.
And voila! The below is the result of having the toner in for another half hour or so, washing, then drying. Look at that gorgeous shape from the haircut, too.
The final result when my hair was curled and styled. Hopefully I'll be able to go out in full glam and show off these curls soon!
Another angle to showcase the movement and texture created from the cut, further enhanced by the balayage highlights.
If you're looking to change up your hair or simply want a refresh with an excellent professional opinion on which style would suit your face the best, I would highly recommend Essensuals Toni & Guy. My experience was super pleasant from start to finish, and the staff are friendly, personable and accommodating. Would 100% come back for my next cut or colour treatment!
