Updated: Dec 19, 2019

Yesterday saw the anticipated reveal of Michelin-awarded restaurants for the 2020 Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau at City of Dreams, Macau. Hong Kong's restaurant awardees included a total of 7 three-star restaurants (2 new), 12 two-star restaurants (1 new), and 51 one-star restaurants (11 new).

I was thrilled to see that Roganic by UK Chef Simon Rogan won a star just a year after opening, as did other newcomers Louise by Julien Royer of Odette (#1 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2019) and Zest by Konishi. Long-time landmark restaurants Petrus at Island Shangri-La and Gaddi's at The Peninsula also impressed Michelin inspectors this year, gaining a star each. In some of the most exciting reveals of the day, Arbor by Eric Raty gained a second star, and Sushi Shikon was promoted to the ultimate three-star status.

We also noticed that the InterContinental's Cantonese restaurant Yan Toh Heen lost its second star, and Bo Innovation by "Demon Chef" Alvin Leung lost its third.

New additions to the exclusive three-star list include Sushi Shikon at Landmark Mandarin Oriental, and Forum, a Cantonese restaurant in Sino Plaza with over 40 years of history. Caprice and Otto e Mezzo managed to maintain their three-star ranking, so a huge congrats to them!
